A new series of seasonal wellness classes is coming to the Old Forge Library, led by Boonville-based herbalist Jessica Maureen Hinsdill. Healing with the Rhythms of Nature is a monthly series that invites participants to slow down, tune into the changing seasons, and explore how plant-based practices can support everyday well-being.

Each session will focus on seasonal wellness and the idea that plants carry natural properties that can help warm, cool, stimulate, or soothe the body. Participants will be introduced to two locally growing medicinal plants in each class, along with simple, practical tips for harvesting and preparing them at home.

For thousands of years, cultures around the world have used plants as gentle, supportive tools for health. Many common herbs, like mint for digestion or chamomile for relaxation, are still widely used today, offering a natural way to complement modern wellness routines.

Classes will also include a seasonal tea tasting, giving attendees a chance to experience the flavors and benefits of herbal infusions firsthand in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Upcoming Sessions:

Tuesday, May 12 at 6 pm – Gentle Detox, Awakening Digestion

Tuesday, July 14 at 6pm – Cooling Herbs and Sun Season Vitality

Both sessions are free and open to the public. Class size is limited, and advance registration is recommended. To register, call 315-369-6008 or email oldforge@midyork.org.

Jessica is the founder of Wild Soulstice LLC, where she offers herbal education, consultations, and support for those navigating Lyme disease. She also leads plant walks for the Black River Environmental Improvement Association and brings a warm, approachable style to sharing her knowledge of the natural world.
